The Department of Mechanical Engineering is actively engaged in emerging research areas of prime importance for the society and nation. Department is actively pursuing research in the areas of advanced materials for controlling degradation in bio-implants, turbines and cancer applications, energy systems, bio-mimetics for development of smart surfaces and robotics. Many of the faculty members are involved in advanced manufacturing domain with the focus on the development of weld-based additive manufacturing processes, friction stir processing and microwave-based cladding and casting. Both experimental and theoretical research in all domains pertinent to mechanical engineering is encouraged and supported. The faculty members in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering, SNU have experience from various eminent and prestigious institutes around the globe. Almost all faculty members have sponsored projects from various governmental agencies and industries.
Eligibility: ME/MTech degree in Mechanical / Aeronautical / Aerospace / Automobile /Industrial Engineering/Material Science and Engineering/Nano Science and Technology* /Structures, with a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent grade point from a recognized technical institute or university. AND B. Tech/BE. in Mechanical/Aerospace/Material Science or relevant Discipline. Candidates who have qualified for GATE are highly preferred.

Selection Process: The eligibility criteria mentioned above are minimum standards and applications not meeting the same will be summarily rejected. Short-listed candidates will be required to demonstrate their knowledge through an on-site written test and interview. Selections will be based on past academic performance, written examination and/or interview. Please note that not all candidate meeting the minimum eligibility criteria may be shortlisted.
